How to Analyze Facebook Ads with Claude

Analyze Facebook and Instagram ads with Claude: check reporting scope, inspect CPA and ROAS, and separate creative hypotheses from measured results.

Quick answer

What you need to know

  • Label the account, reporting level, time window and metric definitions before comparing results.
  • PlugMind’s account overview covers the last 30 days; other tools may have different inputs.
  • Treat creative explanations as hypotheses until the relevant evidence supports them.

Connect the account and establish reporting scope

Claude can help analyze Facebook and Instagram advertising when you connect an authorized Meta account through PlugMind. Start with the Meta integration guide below, list the accounts available in the intended workspace, and confirm the exact account ID. If the expected account is missing, resolve access before asking for a report.

Tell Claude whether the business wants purchases, leads or another supported outcome. Include your target economics as context rather than asking the assistant to invent a good CPA or ROAS. Keep the result label alongside the number: a low cost per click is not a low cost per qualified lead.

PlugMind’s account overview returns last-30-day totals. Do not ask it for two weekly reports and assume the returned totals match that request. For a comparison, first check whether the relevant tool supports both periods. If it does not, use matching platform exports or state that the comparison is unavailable.

Ask for a report you can reconcile

Compare the first answer with Meta Ads Manager using the same account, dates, filters and available attribution settings. Ask Claude to disclose any attribution information it cannot retrieve. A discrepancy should trigger a scope check before you conclude that either report is wrong.

Calculate metrics without changing their meaning

MetricCalculation or interpretationCheck before using it
Cost per resultSpend divided by the specified result count.Which result type was counted?
Purchase ROASAttributed purchase value divided by spend. Is purchase value available, and is its currency consistent?
Click-through rateThe specified click count divided by impressions. Are you comparing link clicks or all clicks?
FrequencyA delivery signal to interpret with other evidence. Is the campaign objective and reporting window comparable?

Illustrative example: 600 in spend, 12 attributed purchases and 1,800 in attributed purchase value imply a purchase CPA of 50 and purchase ROAS of 3.0. Those numbers do not prove profitability. Product cost, returns and other business expenses are outside that calculation. With zero purchases, report CPA as undefined rather than dividing by zero.

Do not average campaign ROAS values to create an account ROAS. When the underlying metrics are comparable, calculate from total attributed purchase value and total spend. Keep different currencies and reporting definitions separate.

Separate creative, targeting and delivery questions

Inspect campaign and ad-set details to understand the configured objective and targeting. Use supported delivery breakdowns to examine aggregate delivery. Saved targeting describes eligibility; a delivery report describes what happened. Neither identifies the individual people who saw an ad.

If performance worsens, check comparable dates, delivery, spend and available creative evidence. A frequency increase alone does not establish creative fatigue. Claude needs the actual image or an accessible preview to comment on visual details; a creative ID and a performance table do not show it the design.

  • Return the strongest observations with campaign or ad IDs.
  • List competing explanations for a change in results.
  • Identify the next report or asset needed to test each explanation.
  • Propose a controlled next step for review instead of silently pausing ads.

For multiple clients, run and label each account separately. This workflow is an on-demand analysis, not a scheduled monitoring service. Save your own reporting brief so the next review uses the same definitions.

Frequently asked questions

Can Claude compare Google Ads and Meta ROAS?

It can organize separately labeled data, but the platforms may attribute the same conversion differently. Do not treat a combined report as deduplicated revenue.

Can Claude see my ad images automatically?

Only when an actual usable image or preview is available to the model. Provide the asset if the connection returns only identifiers or metadata.

Why do Claude’s numbers differ from Ads Manager?

Check account, reporting level, dates, filters, attribution and metric definitions first. Also check returned row limits and missing fields before drawing conclusions.
