What you need to know
- Begin with the account, reporting period and conversion goal, then inspect the highest-impact questions.
- A bounded tool response is not a complete account audit; record coverage and missing evidence.
- Keep findings, hypotheses and approved changes separate.
Define what the audit needs to answer
Use Claude to organize a Google Ads review around a business question: which campaigns deserve investigation, where do irrelevant queries appear, and what evidence is missing? With an authorized PlugMind connection, Claude can retrieve supported account data rather than relying only on your description. The output should be a decision document you can check against Google Ads.
Start from the Claude–Google Ads setup guide linked below. Confirm the client workspace, serving account ID and currency. Supply your actual offer, service area, conversion goal and any known measurement problems. A lead-generation account cannot be judged from purchase ROAS alone, and platform conversions do not establish whether your sales team qualified the leads.
Keep this first pass read-only. PlugMind’s Google reporting tools use named reporting periods; collection limits default to 50 and are capped at 100. Ask Claude to identify its period and limits, then narrow the campaign scope when necessary. Do not label a sample of returned rows as every campaign or query in the account.
Run a focused first-pass audit
Read the scope statement before the recommendations. If Claude cannot retrieve a required setting or metric, request an explicit gap rather than an estimate. An audit that reports a limitation is more useful than a confident recommendation built on missing data.
Investigate the cause before proposing a fix
| Observation | Next investigation | Avoid assuming |
|---|---|---|
| Spend with few reported conversions | Check the conversion goal, reporting period and available campaign settings. | Every click was wasted. |
| Queries unrelated to the offer | Inspect the actual query, matched keyword and ad-group context. | The whole keyword must be paused. |
| One campaign has a high CPA | Compare its objective, lead quality context and sample size. | A universal bid reduction will solve it. |
| Weak keyword quality components | Review ad relevance and the destination page with the business owner. | A higher bid repairs the experience. |
For example, suppose a service campaign spent 240 account-currency units and reported four leads: its observed cost per reported lead is 60. If sales later qualifies only one lead, that is a separate business outcome to investigate. This hypothetical example is a calculation, not a performance benchmark or evidence that any campaign should be stopped.
Inspect campaign details before suggesting bidding changes. Ask Claude whether the proposed control applies to the campaign’s actual strategy and whether the enabled tools expose it. A generic PPC recommendation is not automatically a valid operation on your account.
Turn the audit into an actionable review
- Give each finding an account and object ID so a reviewer can reproduce it.
- Rank by evidence, business impact and confidence; avoid a made-up numerical audit score.
- Keep measurement questions separate from copy, targeting and budget recommendations.
- Record what was not inspected and why.
- Assign a next check and owner before deciding on an account change.
Use the search-term and negative-keyword guides for deeper query review. When a recommendation is accepted, prepare the exact supported operation for separate approval. Re-run the relevant report afterward and record what actually changed; an approved write is not proof that future performance will improve.
Frequently asked questions
Can Claude audit Google Ads without a live connection?
You can provide an export, but the audit is limited to its rows, dates and settings. A connected review can request supported account information; neither approach should invent missing business context.
Will Claude automatically fix everything it finds?
This audit prompt requests analysis only. Any account changes need a supported tool, an exact proposal and separate approval.
Does this audit check GA4 or my CRM?
Not through the current PlugMind integration. Supply relevant context yourself and label its source; Google Ads reporting is not a GA4 or CRM audit.
